SO about a month ago Paul Taylor of the webcomic Wapsi Square asked me about doing guest art for Christmas for him. Considering how I'm a big fan of both mythology and of kickass ladies, it didn't take much convincing on my part. I also asked him if I could submit it after the piece went live on his website, and he was cool with it!

I chose Phix out of the lot because aside from being a sphinx, which is pretty cool, she's the head librarian of the coolest library in known existence. The symbols in the circle are alchemical signs for elements and the planets, and the names along the sides are for Greek poets, philosophers and storytellers. The bottom part on either sides of her name says "Sphinx Libris", or Library Sphinx, basically.

This is what happens when I listen to Shavo and watch the new My Little Pony series. Ponies!! Though, I have to say, the animation on this show is really nice, and the writing's pretty solid. It's cutesy and super girly, yes, but the characters are well-designed and fleshed out, and the art style ranks somewhere on the scale of so adorable-my-teeth-just-fell-out. The only one I have beef with is Pinkie Pie, mostly because I harbor suspicions she's actually psychotic. I like it! It makes me wish I was 7 again, so I wouldn't get caught up on all these technical details as selling points and would just say "IT HAS PONIES".
